Not every brooch has to be a museum piece to carry history

This little micromosaic brooch came in broken- but its history was very much intact
Venetian micromosaic brooches were once precious keepsakes brought home from Italy by 19th-century travelers—tiny masterpieces, crafted with glass tesserae, often depicting Roman ruins or floral scenes.
The one I just repaired isn’t a grand tour souvenir. It was a more humble, tourist-made brooch—likely brought back by a wealthier sister, eventually passed down through generations.
For my client, it’s not about market value. It’s about family ties, quiet memories, and the kind of tenderness that lingers through objects.
More than 100 years old, fragile and delicate, it took careful, thoughtful work to bring it back to life. I took my time—because when something carries this much meaning, there’s no other way.
Jewellery doesn’t always have to shout to be significant. Sometimes, it just has to last—and be loved again.
